5 x Extatosoma tiaratum (Macleay's Spectre/Giant Prickly Stick insects) L2+ nymphs Images are of nymphs and fully grown insects so you can get an idea of what they will be like when reach maturity. There will be a mix of males and females contained in the package. Package sent through Royal mail as 1st class signed for small parcel (I can also arrange for it to arrive before 1pm the following day for an additional cost). I can also ship tracked and signed for to EU countries. These insects are very easy to care for and are docile by nature. The stick insects will need an enclosure that is at least 3 times the length of the animal in height, and at least 2x the length of the animal in width. Females can grow up to 15cm and males 13cm. The adult males have long wings and are able to fly. The insects eat the leaves of blackberry, raspberry, oak, rose, privet, hazel and eucalyptus. Beware of leaves bought from stores, which are often sprayed with insecticide. The leaves in the enclosure should be sprayed with water daily to provide water droplets for them to drink. You can keep these stick insects at a temperature between 20 ° C and 30 ° C. In the night the temperatures can be allowed to drop a bit more. Mature females will lay eggs (ova) Place eggs on a piece of moist kitchen paper, in a well ventilated container. The eggs should be sprayed every few days with water. Allow the paper to fully dry before spraying again to prevent mould, which can be harmful to the eggs. The eggs should hatch in 4 to 6 months when the female is successfully fertilized by a male. Parthenogenetic eggs, when the female has not successfully mated can take 12+ months. DO NOT throw away unwanted eggs as they could hatch out into the wild and cause problems to the local habitat.
